Inception
Once, may years ago using Dreamweaver and a little vim I put together my first website. I've long since used the amazing frameworks (such as Ghost) that others have built to do my journaling - but these have inevitably been swallowed by the churn of time. Yet again, though, I have decided to publish some thoughts and writings.
There are several reasons for this, which I feel are appropriate to lay out in this inaugural post. They are these:
- I have found the rise of social media to be, ultimately, enervating. The amount of value per amount of time spent continues to dwindle with each passing minute spent on it. I miss the high-value content I found in the blogs and internet at large of yesteryear.
- There are things I wish to write down and share in a slightly-more-permanent and in a slightly-less-than-formal format. These generally trend to the philosophical and political - though perhaps they will meander into cooking, gaming, reading or other pursuits I take up. Regardless of what specifically I write, these posts are meant merely to share, as a thought - not to impose upon others or even necessarily convince. Sometimes thinking in writing is just more productive.
- The most compelling reason for me is to chronicle a personal project of mine: to construct a fully formed, professional web application. There will be more on that later, including what I mean by 'fully formed' and 'professional' and even 'web application', but as a computer engineer by profession I have found over the years the notion of 'Full Stack' has become a progressively taller stack. I no longer label myself a full stack engineer because proving you are that is progressively harder. But perhaps this journal will come to be able to label me in a manner more precise and more authoritatively than I can with a few words alone.
I welcome anyone who cares to reach out to me - particularly if you have the grace and wisdom that I see the highest caliber folks strive for. Such engagement is a gift! That said, if you've reached this, presumably the very bottom of all the things I've written here, I hope it has in some small way edified, entertained or innervated you.
